Stories about the Postcrossing community and the postal world

Blog > New monthly contest!

Good news, everyone!

MOO, our favorite printing company, has gracefully offered to sponsor a monthly contest here on Postcrossing. So from now on, every month, we’ll host a little competition and let you showcase your talent and imagination!

moo & postcrossing contest

So, without further ado, this month’s theme is… video!

As you know, Postcrossing can be a bit tricky to explain to new users… so we’d like to enlist your help!

So your assignement is to make a short & sweet video that explains how Postcrossing works.
Then, submit it to YouTube (or your favourite video sharing site) and share the link in the blog comments. Use your imagination & have fun! :)

In 2 weeks (May 28th) we’ll review the results and choose our favorite – and if that’s you, a pack of MOO's fantastic postcards will be all yours!

PS – Got a fantastic idea for another contest? We’d love to hear it!

a postcard designing competition would be fun. there are loads of talented people on here making their own cards (or buying Moo postcards with their own photos on!)

I like Moo cards very much! :)

on

@d_little_b yes, in english would be better :)

great idea! ☺

For other contests I would like some contest you can win 'by change' as well.
Like:
Longest distance card of the month
Fastest card (kilometers per hour)
May be the most favoured card, or
first card of the first new member of the month, or
...

There could also be some theme card contest like best handmade card, the most beautiful fairy-tale card etc. Or something with stamps...

lucymonty, United Kingdom

Willemijn: Most favourited card would be great- I always wonder what's been the most popular!

rkinninmont:

good idea :) It sounds very similar to the UNICEF "Card Full of Life"

Hedy1706, Netherlands

Most favorite card is really a cool idea!

I'll try to make a video, but my camera was died, so I try to do with my mobile phone.

What is the deadline in UTC?

MOST CREATIVE CARD... SO USE YOUR IMAGINATION AND CREATE A HANDMADE OR COMPUTERIZED CARD

on
meiadeleite, Portugal

@dardo, the deadline is GMT.

There should be something about stamps, such as: Most unique stamp (shape, picture...) or the most stamps on the card...or best variety

a poem about postcrossing maybe? ;D

on
Csigat_Snail, Slovenia

What is the maximum length of the clip? :)

on
paulo, Portugal

@Csigat_Snail: there's no strict maximum length. As the post says, just try to keep it short&sweet. :)

I like Willemijn's idea. Base a contest on stats. :) Not all of us are comfortable posting ourselves on video on Youtube or otherwise.

yes....i'd prefer another contest as we don't all have the needed items to do it!!(camera and such a programm for videos are not a "standard" for everyone...)

I like all the videos! :) The last is the funniest. :)

Hey, thanks mrpotato, DerbyDragon and oixxo! Your videos are awesome! Really cool. I'm glad I don't have to pick a winner - I think they all deserve a prize!

We have very slow internet connection, so it is impossible to upload a vidao to youtube :( And I dont`t watch eihter, because it takes terrible long time to load the videos :/

But I LOVE contest ;)

Awesome!! The entries so far are great.

on

Here is my entry: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5B1WHlPkn2U
It's really short. :)

on
dardo, Spain

My workstation has been formated and now I cannot transfer the video from my mobile phone to my computer, so I'm unable to upload the video. ;(

on
wendela, Netherlands

Wow, what a creativity and what a lot of different ways to explain PC :-) I think the one from Piotrek is the clearest and easiest to understand for people who don't know PC yet. But the one from Oixxo is the most funny. The one from Paneleroze is uh... spooky 0_o

I have a video to add but won't be able to do so until later on today - hope it's not too late by then! I really like the one from oixxo. As for ideas for other competitions how about a postal caption competition and/or design a "stamp" to get people sending mail/writing letters/using the postal system again? Till later, Scott - www.positivelypostal.co.uk

We have to draw the line somewhere... so let's say we accept video submissions until midnight GMT time, today, ok? Hurry up! :)

on
positivelypostal, United Kingdom

I know it's cutting it fine but I've done it - sorry for the delay! Here we go:

You can either watch it in small screen size or better to select full screen - enjoy and hope you like it!

Such nice videos! Ours shall be ready in one hour

on
Kleine_Liebe, Germany

Cutting it really, really, really close, but there have been tons of stones in my way, first Adobe Premiere Pro not working...than the video suddenly not being there...and lots of working, writing applications and stuff...and then doing it on my way to Hamburg...anyway, long story short, here it is, so sorry it is this late!
